The group Chairman Aruna Samarawickrama a young inventor has built a legacy of charity and innovation through his initiative — Aawas International, which provides state-of-the-artificial prosthetic legs/hands including nearly sixteen varieties of body parts for disabled soldiers, amputees due to various sicknesses and injured animals. As the first production the inventor got a patent for the legand recognized at the Presidential Awards ceremony in 2005.
At the 35th New Inventors' Competition held in Geneva, Switzerland the product won a silver medal. In 2009 product won a special prize at the New Invention Fair held in Seoul, South Korea competing with 1500 inventions representing 146 countries. In addition to that the inventor Mr.Samarawickrama won the Dasis Award in 2012 and many other recognitions from various institutions for this fabulous invention.
Further the product won the "Ray" award, competing with other fifty inventions in 2015. A new factory recently started in Jaffna and the organization is gradually expanding.

In 2005 one of my friends lost his leg in the battle field. Considering the difficulties he undergoes while on day today activities, I made an artificial leg for him that is very similar to the natural leg with many user friendly features. As a flexible leg available in the world "LIVE FLEX" artificial leg won many local and international awards being a huge challenge to the world wide artificial prosthesis manufactures. Without restricting only for humans the establishment produces the artificial limbs for animals too. The Aawas International (PVT) Ltd. that was started with 05 men, today functions as a complex including a work shop, rehabilitating section, accommodation area, consisting a competent working staff Further a new complex has been established in Jaffna area with a view to help the disables in North including a large number of war victims.
